Hydromec launches construction of its new Chicoutimi branch
Hydromec is proud to announce the start of construction on its new Chicoutimi branch, a major project representing an investment of approximately $10 million.
This new phase marks a significant milestone in the company’s development and reflects its commitment to continued investment in order to provide even better service to its customers in the construction, forestry, and hydraulic cylinder repair sectors.
An investment to support our growth
Over the past few years, the current Chicoutimi facilities have reached their full capacity, including workshops, parts storage, administrative spaces, and the outdoor yard. The construction of a new branch was therefore essential to support the company’s growth and meet the increasing needs of its customers.
The future building will offer, among other things:
- 27,000 square feet of space, compared to the current 12,400 square feet;
- A 205,000-square-foot lot, providing more space for equipment and traffic flow;
- A mechanical workshop expanding from 3 to 7 work bays, significantly increasing service capacity;
- A hydraulic cylinder repair shop enlarged by more than 70%;
- A parts warehouse of nearly 10,000 square feet, compared to 4,400 sq ft currently, allowing us to maintain a much larger inventory and offer even faster service to our customers;
- Modern, fully air-conditioned facilities, offering a more comfortable work environment for employees.
Improved service for our customers
Thanks to these new facilities, Hydromec will be able to further enhance its local service.
Customers will benefit from:
- increased repair capacity;
- reduced response times;
- a significantly expanded parts inventory;
- facilities better suited to heavy machinery;
- a larger and more accessible site for equipment and carriers.
This new branch will also support Hydromec’s growth in the construction sector, while strengthening its expertise in forestry equipment services.

An investment in our region
Hydromec has chosen to entrust the project to Construction Gauthier, a regional company with over 60 years of experience.
This choice was a natural one, given their expertise, professionalism, and the quality of their numerous projects. The fact that, like Hydromec, they are a well-established company in the region also contributed to this decision.
Beyond the new infrastructure, this project will also create new jobs, increase our service capacity, and contribute to the region’s economic development.
A project well underway
The teams are currently hard at work on the site.
Excavation and foundation work are already well underway. The first concrete pours have begun, and the foundations should be completed by the end of August to allow for the installation of the steel structures.
The building is scheduled for delivery in January 2027. Interior fit-out work will then continue in preparation for the relocation of operations in spring 2027.
A forward-looking vision
For over 50 years, Hydromec has continuously invested to provide its clients with facilities, equipment, and service that meet their expectations.
